Summerland House Farm recently welcomed Bradley – our 100th Supported Employee.
The farm, which is a business of Aruma (formerly House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation) has been an icon in the Northern New South Wales community since 1972.
Not only is our farm a popular attraction, it also provides employment opportunities for people with a disability.
And Bradley, who hails from Goulburn, has taken out the title of 100th employee. This is his first job since leaving school in 2015.
“My dad lived in Ballina before and he knew all about Summerland. He told me about it, and I applied for a job because I wanted to get some working experience,” said Brad.
“I love the people in the area, and at the farm. After starting in the Macadamia Dehusking Facility, I then got the opportunity to work in the restaurant and am very much enjoying working – I feel comfortable with the daily routines and the back of house team”.
Dylan O’Malley, General Manager, Summerland House Farm, said Brad’s been a great addition to the Summerland team.
“We have the privilege of now employing 100 people with a disability at the farm. We’re all about creating meaningful job opportunities, and greatly value our team and all our latest addition.”
“Brad’s fitted right in. He tried out different areas of the farm, and he’s now comfortably settled in the restaurant where he assists with cleaning, preparing kitchen equipment and carrying out back of house duties. He’s quickly become a very active member of our busy restaurant team.”
